Thomas A. Beranty
Thomas A. Beranty, 64, of, Kittanning, died Thursday, Jan. 5, 2017, at Armstrong County Memorial Hospital, a victim of fast-spreading cancer. He was born March 27, 1952, in Kittanning, to Richard J. and Helen M. (Yackowich) Beranty, where he attended grade school at St. Mary's Catholic School and served as an altar boy. Mr. Beranty graduated in 1970 from Kittanning Senior High School, and in 1974 from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a degree in elementary education. He retired from the Armstrong School District in 2007 after 33 years of service. Tom was a member of the Kittanning Elks and the Armstrong County YMCA. He enjoyed golf, traveling and gardening. Lost to the world is a wonderful example of a solid big brother, a decent person, a devoted son, and an exceptional friend and teacher. His colorful character will be missed by many. Survivors include his brother, Richard A. Beranty, of Kittanning; his beloved niece, Katie Beranty, of Tionesta; great-nephew and great-nieces, Andrew J., Anna K., and Ari Raye, also of Tionesta; sister, Lois (Doug) Laedlein, of Bethel Township; and nephew, George (Julie) Edinger III, of Cadogan. Mr. Beranty was preceded in death by his father, Richard J. Beranty, on March 12, 2008, and his mother, Helen M. Beranty, on July 31, 2010. Friends of Tom will be welcomed by his family from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2017, at the SNYDER-CRISSMAN FUNERAL HOME in Kittanning, where a prayer service will be conducted at 11 a.m. by Father Raphael of the Pauline Fathers Monastery.
