In memory of
THEODORE B. THOBEN
Theodore B. Thoben, 85, of Barkhamsted Ct. passed away on April 12th at his home. He was the husband of Adrienne L. Thoben, and of the late Joanne Thoben who passed away June 8th 1995. Born in Boston on April 9th, 1932, he was the son of the late Theodore Thoben Sr. and Hildegarde DiMizio. Ted's sense of humor, soothing voice and many talents in the fine arts field will be remembered by all that knew him. His passion to travel and explore lead him on many adventures including serving his country in Germany post WWII, trips out west, and was also a former UFO investigator for NICAP. He was recently interviewed by MUFON CT, which rekindled this passion, as he was able to attend several open forum meetings with the organization before his passing. His soul mate, sweetheart and wife Adrienne would like to extend many thanks to the Foothills VNA nurses and Eldercare aids who assisted her with their gentle, loving, compassionate care during his final months. She also wants to extend her deepest gratitude to Jen, of Heart to Heart in Torrington, for helping to make his birthday extra special by assisting in getting Ted out of his hospice bed and downstairs to his easy chair in the den one more time to watch his favorite TV show. At this answering of his request, he whispered, "It's wonderful". Besides his wife, he is survived by daughters Catherine Quirk and her husband Patrick Quirk of West Hartford, Theresa Sonski of Higganum, Ct., Dianne Thoben of Ketchikan, Alaska, and a son Eric Thoben of E. Providence, Rhode Island, and a stepson, Bradford L. Griswold of Barkhamsted, Ct. Ted had many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, two great grandsons and friends who will remember his gentle, kind spirit. He was predeceased by a sister, Hildegard Benson. Burial of his ashes will take place at 11:00AM on April 29th, 2017 in Barkhamsted Center Cemetery at Center Hill Rd. Graveside floral arrangements may be ordered and delivered through Aerie Mountain of 100 New Hartford Rd. Barkhamsted (860) 379-8899. Sentiments may be mailed to PO Box 362, North Canton, Ct. 06059
