Sils, Theodore Sieger, 91, passed away Thursday, October 13, 2016. He was born September 19, 1925 in Louisville, KY to parents John and Catherine. He grew up in Buechel; attended St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School; St. Xavier High School; and the University of Louisville. He proudly served as Quartermaster on LCI 803 in the US Navy during WWII, and participated in the battle of Okinawa. After the war he worked at Loevenhart's men's clothing store in downtown Louisville, where he met and married Norma Frances Duncan. He spent most of his professional career at Brandies Machinery Company, where he worked for 30 years as an accountant. Ted will be remembered for his gentle humor, his pride in his family, his happy 62 years of marriage, and his lifetime of faith and service. Ted participated in the Boy Scouts of America for 20 years as both a scout and a leader. He was an active member of St. Bartholomew's Catholic Church, where his family were charter members; served on the board of Trustees for St. Joseph's Orphanage for 9 years; was a past Distinguished Lieutenant Governor of the Optimist International, Kentucky and West Virginia District, where he was a member for over 50 years; and was also a member of the Assumption Council Knights of Columbus. Ted is survived by his beloved wife Norma, his son Theodore Sils, Jr. and daughter-in-law,Kelly Sils; his daughter Jennifer Sils and son-in -law,Mac King; his daughter Susan Amundsen and son-in-law, Jack Amundsen; and grand children Kate Morrison, Patrick Morrison, Brennan Morrison, and Elizabeth King. His funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM Monday, October 17, 2016 at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, 2042 Buechel Bank Road, with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 - 7 PM Sunday, October 16, 2016 at Ratterman & Sons Funeral Home, 3800 Bardstown Road.
