In memory of
Teresa Moreno
It is with Heartfelt sorrow to announce the passing of Teresa J. Moreno our Matriarch of the Moreno Family. Our lives are in a pause, trying to understand how it's even possible that Teresa is gone. She was taken unexpectedly and was called Home to our Heavenly Father on Wednesday, April 12, 2017. Three days after her daughter-in-law, passing Annette E. Moreno who passed away on Psalm Sunday, April 9, 2017. Teresa was born on December 29, 1941 in Merced, California to Manuel C. and Aurora Garcia. She grew up in Merced attending Galen Clark School on 13th Street, continuing to Hoover Middle School and graduating from El Capitan High School in 1959. Teresa was an excellent student exceeding in all of her studies she went on to higher education almost getting her teaching degree, but stopped to start a whole new path of raising her children. On February 6, 1960, Teresa married her one true love, Joe Moreno from this union of 54 years they were blessed with five children: Andrea (1961), Joseph Jr. (1962), Cynthia (1963), Georgette (1967) and Virginia (1973). Teresa worked as a Teacher's Aide for many years for the Merced City Schools. She first started in the Migrant Camp during the summers in Planada. Galen Clark Pre-School, John Muir, Ada Givens, Burbank, Charles Wright, Stowell and many other schools until her retirement in 2011. Some of her hobbies included sewing and quilting. Grams had five sewing machines at one time. We would ask why so many, her response, "You never know when one is going to break down. She loved collecting all the materials for quilts, many family members were extremely lucky to get one of her creations. She also enjoyed yard sales and estate sales. That lady always got great deals. But one of her all time favorite pass times was gossip. Teresa loved being in the chisme. Grams ultimate true devotion was the love she carried in her heart for her family. She did everything for them. Teresa never stopped until the day she passed loving her family. With every laughter and tear shed she gave everything she had to her loved ones. Our hearts are broken, WE LOVE YOU & MISS YOU WITH ALL OF OUR HEARTS & SOULS. She leaves to cherish her memory her children: Andrea Marie Lopez, Joseph Manuel Moreno Jr., Cynthia Teresa Gutierrez (Mike), Georgette Moreno Barnes (Jim), and Virginia Renee Moreno (Jose) and Elaine Ornelas; 15 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren; her brothers, Eddie and Trino Garcia; Sisters: Esperanza Rodriguez, Binnie Carroll and Mary Jane Avila; She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph Moreno Sr. "Joe Moe," her parents, Grandpa Bear and Grandma Bear; an infant daughter, a son-in-law, Ruben Lopez; daughter-in-law, Annette Elaine Moreno and brothers: Frankie, Lupe and Joey Garcia.
