In memory of
SYLVIA MORSE
MORSE SYLVIA Sylvia Morse had asked to "go home" for quite some time. Her health had deteriorated to where she could no longer do the things she loved and Alzheimer's disease was robbing her mind of precious memories. She missed her mother and father, Thelma and James Ramsay; sister, Virginia Beck Tompkins; and most especially, her beloved husband, Phil. On a beautiful Monday morning, April 17, 2017, Sylvia got her wish and "went home" at the age of 84. Many of her loved ones had the privilege of walking with her those last days as she completed her journey. She is survived by sons, Jim (Diann) and Tom (Andrea); grandchildren, Amy (Ian) McConnell, Alex (Lindsay) Morse, Ali (Jake) Herr and Tyler Morse; and great- grandchildren, Bowen McConnell and Ellie Morse. She also leaves behind beloved nephews, Gregg (Sarah) Beck, Gary (Jeanne) Beck; and dear niece, Linda (Shelly) Beck and their families. Sylvia Ramsay Morse was born and raised in Avalon where she was valedictorian of her class at Avalon High School. She went on to Wooster College where she met her husband, Philip Morse. They married in September 1954 and raised their sons in the North Hills area. Sylvia was especially proud of the business that her father started, Allegheny Pipe and Supply Company which is now third generation. She was a member of Memorial Park Church and Wildwood Country Club. She enjoyed playing golf and bridge with her friends and traveling the world with her husband and sister. She was a small person with a big personality and friendly demeanor. She knew that life is meant to be lived and she lived it to its fullest for as many of her years as she could. Sylvia's family wishes to thank the kind staff and residents at Cumberland Woods, the professionals of Vitas Hospice, Patty Neurohr and Carol Kirkpatrick of At Home with Ease. Most especially, the family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Beverly Pfab, Sylvia's long-term companion from At Home with Ease. Arrangements are entrusted to H.P. BRANDT FUNERAL HOME, 1032 Perry Highway, Pittsburgh, 412-364-4444. A memorial service will be held Thursday, April 20, 2017, at Memorial Park Church at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Alzheimer's Association, www.alz.org .
