Sylvia C. Hamaker
Sylvia Chestine Howard Hamaker was born Feb. 20, 1940, and died Saturday, Jan. 7, 2017. Celebration of life: 10 a.m. Tuesday at Blessing Funeral Home. Interment follows in Emerald Hills Memorial Park, Kennedale. Visitation: The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at Blessing Funeral Home. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Sylvia's name to the Metroplex Women's Clinic (formerly known as the Arlington Pregnancy Center). Sylvia was born in Houston to William Chester Howard and Mary Adeline Heermans Howard. She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed embroidering and quilt making. She shared many of her quilts with family, friends, and numerous organizations. She was a member of Walnut Ridge Baptist Church. Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors: Her husband of 56 years, Cecil Hamaker of Mansfield; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Gary Smith of Arlington; son, Raymond Hamaker of Fort Worth; son and daughter-in-law, Daren and Mitzi Hamaker of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Chris Sullivan of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Megan Porterfield and husband, Phillip, Elizabeth Hamaker, Bryan Hamaker, Daniel Hamaker, Emily Smith, Maura Smith, Madison Sullivan and Tucker Sullivan; great-grandchildren, Kinsley Porterfield and Aiden Porterfield; brother and sister-in-law, Lowell and Margaret Howard of Denison; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
