Sylvia M. Engelmann, 96, joined her husband in Heaven on Saturday, October 15, 2016. She was born in Henry County, Ohio on June 8, 1920. She was the daughter of the late Israel and Hildred King. She was a homemaker, and enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing of prom dresses, bridesmaid's dresses, and bridal gowns. Sylvia was a quilt maker from her youth, and loved playing cards with friends and family. She was a member of the Avion Travelcade Club, as well as Nine Mile United Methodist Church. Sylvia was also a longtime member of Salem United Church of Christ and was their chief cook for 27 years. Surviving are her children, Beverly Gloyd, Robert (Linda) Engelmann, Sylvester (Kathleen) Engelmann Jr., and Cynthia Engelmann; 7 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sylvester Engelmann; siblings, William J. King, and Joyce L. Lichty; son-in-law, Travis Gloyd; and grandson, Troy Engelmann. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 19th from 2-4 and 6-8pm at D. O. McComb & Sons Covington Knolls, 8325 Covington Rd. Ft. Wayne, IN. Funeral Service will be Thursday, October 20th, 2016 at 10:30 AM also at the funeral home, with calling 1 hour prior and Pastor Lois Cannon officiating. Burial will take place at Covington Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Nine Mile United Methodist Church or Visiting Nurses of Ft. Wayne.
