Sue Benton CARENCRO - Funeral services will be held Friday, January 13, 2017 at a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel in Carencro for Sue Benton, age 75, the former Sue Campbell, who passed away Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at Landmark of Acadiana in St. Martinville. Interment will be in Evangeline Memorial Gardens in Carencro. The Rev. Gary Schexnayder, pastor of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, will officiate at the services. Musical selections will be provided by Charlotte Jopling, accompanied by Phyllis Simar on the organ. The songs will be Be Not Afraid, Amazing Grace, All That I Am, One Bread, One Body, and On Eagle's Wings. Mrs. Benton was a native and resident of Carencro for most of her life. She was employed with Heymans Food Center for over thirty years until they closed and Albertsons for sixteen years where she retired. Survivors include her daughter, Dr. Tracey Benton and her husband, Richard Herring, of Pineville; one son, Kenneth Charles Benton and his wife, Bridget, of Carencro; one sister, Jane C. Latiolais of St. Martinville; and one brother, Daniel Campbell of New Orleans. She was preceded in death by her husband of twenty-five years, Eddie Benton; her parents, George Campbell and the former Martha Gaspard; and one brother, Michael Campbell. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday and will continue from 8:00 a.m. until service time on Friday. The family would like to extend a special thanks to her sister, Jane Latiolais, who cared for her during the three and a half year illness and the members and staff of Landmark of Acadiana during her short stay.
