BENNETT, Stewart King, age 89 of Manchester, Ga., passed away on Saturday, Oct. 8, 2016. No services will be held at this time. Stewart was born on May 23, 1927, in Decherd, Tenn., the son of the late Delton Marie Stewart and Stephen King Bennett. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and retired as an engineer with CSX in 1995, after 52 years of service. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and was a well-respected breeder of bird dogs. He was an animal lover and thoroughly enjoyed working with Tennessee Walkers. He was preceded in death by his parents, six siblings, and his son Stroud Bennett. Survivors include his wife, Hattie Patrick Bennett of Manchester, Ga.; brother, Steven Bennett of North Georgia; sisters, Ethel Stephens and Alfrieda Damron, both of Winchester, Tenn.; grandson, Stewart Paul (Kimberly) Bennett of Atlanta, Ga.; brothers-in-law, Bill and Calvin Patrick; and numerous nieces and nephews.
