In memory of
STEPHEN HOMER JOHNSON
STEPHEN HOMER JOHNSON, 70, of Fort Wayne, was ushered into the arms of his Savior on Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2017, at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana, Fort Wayne. Born April 6, 1946, in Huntington, Ind., he was the second child of four and a son of Wayne and Mary (Ahlfeld) Johnson, a minister and homemaker. Steve grew up in Claypool, Ind. He earned a Bachelors of Science in Business at Manchester University, North Manchester, Ind. He later was awarded a Masters of Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary. He spent years in both the field of human resources and in the pastorate of several churches. Steve was a gifted teacher of God's word and shepherd of God's people, compassionate counselor to many, ardent pipe organ enthusiast, voracious reader, avid Indy car and sprint car racing fan and bicyclist on the Fort Wayne River Greenway. Steve had an endearing way of bringing joy to others through his ability to see the humorous side of life. Steve was the loving father of two children, Jeffrey (Jenna) Johnson of Hershey, Pa., and Jennifer (Nathan) Peterman of Bloomington, Ind.; grandfather of seven grandchildren, Sullivan, Lia and Evie Johnson and Deacon, Hudson, Vivian and Maeve Peterman. Steve's children and grandchildren were both the source of his greatest pride and joy and the recipients of his undying love and affection. Steve is also survived by his mother, Mary Johnson of Winona Lake, Ind.; brother, Jerry (Lois) Johnson of Claypool, Ind.; and sisters, Janet (Bud) Lentz of Mt. Pleasant, N.C., and Barbara (Mike) Wolfe of Mesa, Ariz. He was preceded in death by his father, Wayne Johnson. A Celebration of Life service is 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017, at Titus Funeral Home, 2000 E. Sheridan St., Warsaw (IN 46580), where the family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. Burial will take place immediately following the service at Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester. Expressions of sympathy may be made as gifts to the Hannah Center, 808 North College Ave., Bloomington, IN 47404. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.TitusFuneralHome.com
