Stanley M. Long June 11, 1933 - January 10, 2017 Chambersburg Stanley M. Long, 83, formerly of St. Thomas, PA, died January 10, 2017 at the Chambersburg Hospital, after fighting cancer for over 6 years. Born June 11, 1933, at McConnellsburg, he was a son of the late Calvin & Mabel Mellott Long. Stanley was a graduate of St. Thomas High School. Following graduation he enter the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War. Following his discharge he was employed at Letterkenny Army Depot for 35 years. In retirement he owned and operated Class A Products for a number of years. He was a life member of St. Thomas Assembly of God Church where he served on the church board and was Sunday school superintendent. Member of American Legion #46 of Chambersburg. Stanley was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. Surviving are his wife, Mary E. Armstrong Long who he married March 21, 1953; two sons, Daniel Long and companion, Pam Brown of Waynesboro, and Mark and wife, Debra Long of Chambersburg; four grandchildren, Bradley Long, Annette Long, Rachel Long and Rebekah Long; and four great-grandchildren; a sister, Arlene Meck of St. Thomas; and a brother, Roy Long of Everett. He was preceded in death by siblings, Lester, Oscar, and Harry Long and Alberta Doyle. Funeral services will be held 11 AM January 14, 2017 at St. Thomas Assembly of God Church with the Reverend Alvin J. Hezlep officiating. Burial will be at St. Thomas Cemetery. Viewing, 6 to 9 PM Friday at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home Inc., Mercersburg, and one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.
