Sondra J. "Sandy" Cox
The beloved Sondra (Sandy) J. Cox, age 68, of Belen, NM, born December 2, 1947, in Clovis, NM, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 9, 2016. Sandy retired from BNSF Railway as a Train Master after 30 ½ years of service. After retiring, she loved to travel with family and close friends. In 2010, she joined the La Merced Women of the Moose Chapter 2210, where she began a whole new journey, in that became a Past Senior Regent, acquired her Academy of Friendship, held Jr. Graduate Regent and was a Green Cap Recipient. Through family, friends, and work she touched the hearts and lives of many with her southern hospitality and charm. She was all about manners, tradition and the simple things in life. Family meant the world to her and we all knew it. She was everyone's favorite wherever she went with her contagious laughter and smile, which were one of a kind. She will be dearly missed. She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas J. Tipton; and mother, L. Marcine Tipton, both of Texico, NM. Sandy is survived by her son, Kevin W. Cox, of Lismore, New South Wales, Australia; daughters, Leslie A. Cox, of Belen, NM and Melissa K. Marquez, of Belen, NM; granddaughters, Britny LaChelle Reeser and her husband, Randy, of Amarillo, TX, Summer A. Cox, of Sydney, Australia, and Toni M. Marquez, of Belen, NM; and her one and only great-granddaughter, Audree R. Reeser. She is also survived by her brother and his significant other, Skip Tipton-Moss and Glenda Caulder of Texico, NM; brothers, Chuck Tipton and his wife, Susan, of Tahoma, TX, Ronnie Tipton and his wife, Dottie, of Portales, NM and Frankie Tipton and his wife, Vicki, of Clovis, NM; and sister and husband, Dee Hall and her husband, Gary; and numerous nieces, nephews and more cousins than she could count. Services will be held on Friday, October 14, 2016 at First Baptist Church of Belen, 401 Becker Ave., Belen, NM 87002 beginning with a public viewing at 12:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 1:00p.m.There will be a reception in the South Annex of the Church immediately following. There will be no graveside services at this time. There will be a graveside and/or memorial service held in Texico, NM at a later date.
