Shirley Ann (Miller) Smith
SMITH Shirley Ann (Miller) Shirley Ann (Miller) Smith, 82, formerly of West Central Ave., Sylvania, OH, went to meet her Savior on January 10, 2017.  Shirley was born on February 23, 1934 and was the youngest of 7 children born to Leonard J. and Caroline (Raab) Miller.  She was a 1952 graduate of Burnham High School in Sylvania.  She worked as a bookkeeper for the Toledo Trust before marrying the love of her life, David “Pat” Smith on October 22, 1955.  Pat preceded her in death in 1996.   Shirley was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister who loved to keep a tidy house and prepare delicious meals for her family and friends. She enjoyed shopping, eating out with her family and her monthly get together with her lifelong card club friends.  She was an avid musician, who started playing the accordion by ear at a very early age. Her musical abilities lead her to play in a band that performed for local birthday parties, anniversaries and barn dances. She was a faithful member of St. Elizabeth/Holy Trinity Catholic Parish where she was a member of the Altar Rosary Society and worked on numerous annual fall festivals at St. Elizabeth's Church. Shirley is survived by her daughters, Jeanne K. (Michael) Pasternak, Karrie L. (Timothy) King; son, Michael D. (Julie) Smith; and her “angel” grandchildren that she adored, Samuel Patrick and Chloe Suzanne Smith. Shirley will also be missed by her loving sister and friend, Marie Bettinger; sisters-in-law, Audrey Miller, Rosemary Ott, Lucille Smith, Helen (Richard) Gillen, Theresa (Jeffery) McArthur, Sue Smith; brothers-in-law, Donald (Maxine) Smith, Bob Smith, Jerry Smith and many nieces and nephews.   She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Florene (Loyd) Johnson, Luella  (Wilfred) Langenderfer, brothers, Leo (Marian) Miller, Norbert (Vivian) Miller, Earl Miller, and her special friend of 15 years, Ray Shepherd.   Friends and family may call at the Reeb Funeral Home, 5712 N. Main St., Sylvania, OH on Thursday, January 12, from 4:00 - 9:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be conducted at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, Assumption, OH on Friday morning at 11 a.m., where the family will greet friends one hour prior. Interment following at St. Elizabeth Cemetery. The family would like to thank Shirley's many devoted caregivers and the staff at The Grove at Oakleaf Village.
