Sherry Webb Williams
Sherry Webb Williams Knoxville, TN Sherry Webb Williams, age 68, passed away on January 7, 2017, after a brave and difficult 2-year battle with ALS. She was a lifelong Tennessean, born in Nashville on March 16, 1948, and raised in Memphis, where she met and married her soul mate and husband of 43 years, Larry Williams. She was a graduate of Southern Methodist University. Sherry and Larry moved to Knoxville in 1975, settled down, and began a family. Sherry became a caring mother of two children and a successful businesswoman. She worked for many years at Draughons Junior College and then courageously started several independent business ventures of her own, eventually founding Corporate Quarters, which continues to thrive and grow, even after her retirement in 2010. She was a long-time, faithful member of Cokesbury United Methodist Church. She loved the fellowship and friendship of her Pathfinder Sunday School Class and her Caring Group. She committed her free time to the service of others, including family, friends, and strangers in need. She unselfishly donated her time, talents, and treasures to many charitable activities. She helped feed the hungry at Cokesbury's Manna House and sponsored a mother and child through Cokesbury's Susannah's House. She was active in her local ALS Association Chapter, where she helped raise thousands of dollars for ALS research and greatly enjoyed the support of her ALS Support Group. She also enjoyed reading, gardening, and traveling with Larry on many trips and cruises around the world. She had a great sense of humor and enriched the lives of everyone she met with her quiet grace and compassion. She was blessed with a full, rewarding life. She passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus in the confidence of joyous reunion with her parents and Our Heavenly Father. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbur Webb and Enoice Rosson Webb; and several aunts and uncles. Survivors include her husband, Larry; sister, Carolyn Mills; children, Matthew Williams and Amy Peeler; and 5 grandchildren, Cecilia Williams, Joshua Williams, Lucas Williams, Marcus Williams, and Apolosio Peeler. Survivors also include cousins, Michael Rosson, Tracy Croissant, Connie Hoberer, and Nicky Rosson; niece, Jennifer Mills; nephew, Robert Mills; and grandniece, Madison Mills. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, January 13, 2017 at 4:30 p.m. at Cokesbury United Methodist Church, 9919 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37922. The Celebration will be followed immediately by a visitation and reception with light refreshments from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Sherry's name to Manna House or Susannah's House at Cokesbury.
