Sheldon A. (Bud) Bowers
Sheldon (Bud) A. Bowers Age 88, died peacefully at home on October 6th, 2016, surrounded by his loving family. Bud leaves behind his beloved wife, Tessa; three daughters, Barbara (Michael) LeBlanc, Laura (Bob) Anderson, Ann (Jeff) Sandell; friend and former wife Gloria Horne; along with grandchildren Jalia LaNoue, Robert and Brittany Anderson, and Lauren and Juliet Sandell. He is also survived by sisters Carol (Neil) Harbin, Helen (Bob) Fraedrich, and Chris (Rich) Fraedrich. Bud began life in Cleveland, Ohio, the only son of Sheldon Bowers II and Erma Woodruff. In his teens, the family moved to Sacramento, CA, where he graduated from high school, was then drafted into the Korean War and served with the Army Corps of Engineers. Upon returning from war, Bud graduated from the School of Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley. Bud spent most of his professional life employed with Caltrans as a Civil Engineer, overseeing the design and construction of highways and bridges in California. He also worked for Bechtel, and was involved in many projects overseas. After retirement, Bud enjoyed traveling with his family, and pursuing his lifelong study of science, history and the world's religions. Bud's intellectual curiosity, sense of humor and devotion to family and friends will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
