Sheila Wilhelm Oct. 23, 1919 - Jan. 20, 2017 Resident of San Jose Surrounded by family, Sheila M. Wilhelm (nee Niemi) passed away gently at the age of 97 at her home in San Jose, California on Friday evening, January 20th. Born and raised in Minnesota, she married Lloyd Wagner in 1938 and had two sons, Michael and Wagner. After her divorce she relocated to California in 1948. She also met her second husband Allen in 1948, and they married in March of 1950. They shared 55 fine years together until he passed in April of 2005. Together they had three children: Mark, Kristin and Karin. They started what became A. Wilhelm Interiors in San Jose from the family's kitchen in the summer of 1962, moving into the building on Saratoga Avenue soon after. It was a successful business for 37 years. In 1977 they purchased a beachfront condominium on Maui and enjoyed many stays there over the years, both alone and with family. She's survived by her brother Ralph and his wife Edith, sister-in-law Shirley, sons Michael, Wagner and Mark, daughters Kristin and Karin and all of their husbands, wives and partners – as well as beloved grandchildren Andria, Marguerite, Claire, Aaron, Sarah and Wesley and great-granddaughters Olivia and Ruby. She is also survived by cousins and many members of the extended family she cared so much about, as well as many friends. Sheila loved her family, Hawaii, the opera, travel, music, and reading. She worked crossword puzzles regularly for 81 years, often doing two a day. A celebration of her life will be held at 1:30 in the afternoon on Saturday, March 18th at the Los Gatos History Club. Her ashes will be joined with Allen's and scattered off the coast of Maui, Hawaii in May of this year. View the online memorial for Sheila Wilhelm
