Sheila C. Niedbala
Sheila C. Niedbala, age 83 of Monroe, died at 10:55 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 15th at the I.H.M. Senior Living Community. Family and friends may visit from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Rupp Funeral Home. She will lie in state at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Catholic Church where a Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Associate Pastor, Rev. Louis LaPeyre, will officiate. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle. Born June 20, 1933, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late W. Earle and Alice (McIntyre) Craig. She married Richard M. Niedbala on May 18, 1957 in Crafton, PA. He preceded Sheila in death on July 30, 1982. Sheila received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Penn State University prior to moving to Monroe. Locally she co-owned the former Ms. Catering business and later was employed by the YMCA as Office Manager from 1983-1997. Sheila was a member of St. Mary Church and previously sang in its Resurrection Choir. Formally, she was a Mercy Memorial Hospice Volunteer, board member of Family Counseling and Shelter Services, the Monroe County Library System and the City of Monroe Compensation Commission. During the 1970s, she served on the board of the Monroe County CYO. She also served as coordinator of the Monroe County Food Bank from 1983-1985. Sheila is survived by two sons, Richard (Barbara) Niedbala, Jr. of Geneva, Illinois and Peter Niedbala of Chelsea, Michigan; six grandchildren, R. Michael (Kelsey) Niedbala, Timothy Niedbala, Elizabeth Niedbala, Patrick Niedbala, Andrew Niedbala, and Therese Niedbala; and a great-grandson, Michael Henry Niedbala. In addition to her parents and husband, Sheila was also preceded by a brother, William Craig, Jr., and two sisters, Ann Lee and Alice Coyne.
