Shawn Ann Simpson, 53, of Big Spring died Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at Scenic Mountain Medical Center. The family received friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday at Myers and Smith Funeral Home. A memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Monday at Myers and Smith Chapel. Shawn Ann was born Dec. 2, 1963, in Big Spring to Barbara and John Simpson. She had owned Shawn Ann's West End. She was a lifetime resident of Big Spring and was a Methodist. She lived for her adored grandchildren Kynslea and Kysin, and the love of her life, Megan. Her indomitable spirit encouraged her family and friends through any struggles in life. At a very young age her passion for motorcycles began. She often said, "that ride with friends to the destination was just as fun as the destination itself." She will be remembered for her unshakable will and living life her own way. She is survived by her daughter, Megan Simpson of Big Spring; granddaughter, Kynslea Mata of Big Spring; grandson, Kysin Gerstenberger of Big Spring; mother, Barbara Young of Cumberland, Md.; father, John Fred Simpson of San Angelo; brother, Jon Clark Simpson of San Angelo; sister, Beth Irizarry of California; two nephews, Cody James Simpson of Big Spring and John Lee Simpson of San Angelo; two cousins very dear to her, Jeanne Hay Niklasch and her husband Mike of Florida, and Robin Kuczinski of Maryland; and great aunt, Lucy Arve. She was preceded in death by her beloved brother, Scott Simpson; along with her cousin, Reese Arve. Arrangements are by Myers and Smith Funeral Home.
