Sharon Knowles Jan. 8, 1938 - Jan. 29, 2017 Resident of San Jose Born in Oakland, Sharon attended Hayward High School. She met Daniel while attending California State University at San Jose, and they were married Feb. 3rd, 1957. After raising four young children she returned to college and in 1973 received a Bachelor of Arts degree in home economics. Sharon taught home economics in the Campbell Union High School District and served as a substitute teacher in the Union School District. Her teaching career spanned 17 years. True to her home economics background, Sharon's passions were found in the kitchen and her sewing room. She loved watching Julia Child or the Galloping Gourmet, and she loved trying out new dishes from her extensive collection of cookbooks. She also loved sewing her own art clothing, and she left behind a prodigious amount of quilts, wall hangings, and beautiful decorations for every season and holiday. Sharon was active in many organizations, including the San Jose Quilt Museum, the American Sewing Guild, the San Jose Historical Museum, and the Peninsula Wearable Arts Guild. She was an active member of the Second Church of Christ, Scientist in San Jose for over 50 years. She also enjoyed playing the piano, traveling throughout the U.S. and Europe, and spending time with her grandkids. She is survived by her children, Melody Hooper (Michael), Linda Knowles, Matt Knowles (Lori), and Derek Knowles, and grandchildren, Emily, Melissa, Lauren, and Benjamin. Her husband C.
