DALLAS - Seab Lee Dills, 88, peacefully departed this world and entered into eternal life with his Lord Jesus Christ on Oct. 18, 2016 with his family and loved ones by his side. Those who knew Seab can be assured that he entered through the pearly gates singing praises with a smile on his face. Seab was born Feb. 21, 1928 in Swain County, son of the late Samuel Dills and Ida Frady Dills of Whittier. He was preceded in death by five brothers- Allen Dills, Andy Dills, Doyle Dills, Clyde Dills, Paul Dills and four sisters- Gladys Dills Littrell, Alice Dills, Beulah Dills and Edna Dills. Left to cherish precious memories of their beloved husband, father and grandfather are his wife of 68 years, Emogene "Jean" Elders Dills; sons - Larry Dills (Tammy), Scott Dills (Andrea) and daughter, Sheila Dills Courtney (Ron); twelve grandchildren - Matthew Courtney, Taylor Courtney, Elizabeth Dills Ingram (Scott), David Dills (Alyssa), Richard Dills, Jody Dills (Katrinna), Dustin Dills (Sarah), Shelley Dills Shull, Jeanine Floyd (Toby), Reba Bowen (Devin), John Bowen (Christa) and Robert King; twelve great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews and in-laws; and special friend Eugene "Gene" Brown. Prior to his declining health, Seab was a faithful active member of Flint Groves Baptist Church, where he served as Deacon, Sunday school teacher, Trustee, choir member, greeter and usher. He retired from Burlington Industries with 40 years of service. Seab was also a WWII veteran, serving proudly in the US Navy. His love of farming kept him busy during his retirement years and he always had a bumper crop of vegetables that he shared with friends and family. Seab cultivated friends as easily as he grew vegetables and was loved and respected by all who knew this kind, generous and Godly man. The family will receive friends at Flint Groves Baptist Church in Gastonia from noon to 1:45 pm on Thursday, Oct. 20, 2016 with a service to follow at 2 p.m. conducted by the Rev. Ronnie Bowers to celebrate the life of this faithful man of God. Interment will be at Gaston Memorial Park following the service, with full military honors rendered by the Gaston County Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Gaston Hospice, PO Box 3984, Gastonia, NC 28054 or Flint Groves Baptist Church, 2017 E. Ozark Ave., Gastonia, NC 28054. The family would also like to thank Cindy Mitchell, Janet Cole, Tammy Rhyne, Dora James and Greg Qualls of Gaston Hospice for their support over the past few months as Seab's health declined and Sarah Carelock of Stress Free Home Care for the loving assistance she provided in giving his caregivers a break.
