THOMAS Scott Brewer II, 89, husband of Millie Thomas, died Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2017. He was born Jan. 23, 1927 in Eminence, KY, to the late Scott Brewer and Josephine Garner Thomas. He attended Wesleyan College and Fugazzi Business College. He was a general manager of a Chevrolet dealership in Lexington for many years. He hired the first African American in Lexington in the 60's as salesman. Scott was a past Sunday school teacher, church deacon, and was part of the full Gospel Men's Fellowship of Lexington, member of Spindletop Hall and a UK football and basketball supporter for over 50 years. He served in the 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 82nd airborne division in the occupation of Europe. He is survived by his wife, Millie Lacy Thomas; a daughter, Melisa Thomas Furcolow (John); a son, Scott B. Thomas III (Angela); and a daughter who preceded him in death, Mechelle Lacy Thomas; grandsons, Scott Michael Furcolow (Leigh Ann), Samuel Christian Rowe Furcolow and Scott B. Thomas IV (Macy); granddaughter, Whitney Michele Pals (Matt); great-granddaughters, Ansley and Ava Furcolow; great-grandson, Silas Orion Furcolow; Caleb his faithful dog; and many extended family members. Thank you to his caretakers for being there to the end and to his long time friend Tom White. Papa was what his grandchildren called him and was a very loving and kind husband and father. He was generous and big hearted with a deep passion for his friends and family. He always had a smile on his face and laughed easily. He was always a great storyteller, friend and family man. He will be loved and missed. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home-Main St. with Pastor Mitchell Tolle officiating. Burial will be in Athens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday. In lieu of flowers, donations suggested to Man O'War Church of God, 1801 Trent Blvd., Lexington, KY 40515.
