Reddinger, Scott "Captain" , "Captain" Scott Reddinger, age 55, died in his home in New Orleans on December 23, 2016. Scott was born in Chicago, IL on July 19, 1961 and grew up in Louisville, KY. He moved to New Orleans in 1979 to pursue his life-long dream of becoming a riverboat captain. Starting as a deckhand on the antique steamboat the "Belle of Louisville," Scott worked his way up through the New Orleans Steamboat Company and the New Orleans fireboat "Deluge," and spent the majority of his career as a tugboat captain with E.N. Bisso & Sons, Inc. "Captain" Scott was an accomplished chef who delighted in feeding friends and family, specializing in Louisiana delicacies, shrimp boils, pig roasts, and BBQ masterpieces. A truly generous and fiercely loyal friend with a kind heart and wicked wit, Scott's untimely passing is grieved by many. Scott was preceded in death by his mother, Dolores Eckle Reddinger, and father Thomas Edward Reddinger. He is survived by his loving siblings, Christopher James Reddinger (Laurie), Karen Reddinger Bel (Mark), Suzanne Reddinger Haddix (Ron), Elizabeth Reddinger Hamilton (Thomas); 6 nieces and nephews and two great-nephews. A memorial service is planned for Saturday, January 28, at a private home in New Orleans. Friends are requested to contact his family for details.
