KINSTON | Sara Brewer Rouse, 80, of Kinston, peacefully passed away early Wednesday, October 12, 2016. Sara was born September 23, 1936 in Tarboro to the late Joseph and Minnie Brewer. Following high school graduation, Sara moved to Kinston to study as a lab technician. While in school Sara met the love of her life, Nelson Kaye Rouse. They shared more than thirty five years together in Kinston and raised three sons, John Kyle Rouse, Lance Kelly Rouse and Lyndon Townes Rouse. Sara retired from the Lenoir County Health Department where she worked as a lab technician. Sara was the consummate wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. One could never enter her home unwelcome and could never leave her presence hungry. There was no limit to her generosity and love for others. Through her strong faith she taught us how to live, but more importantly she taught us how to give. A service to celebrate and honor Sara's life will be held Monday, Oct. 17, 2016, at 11 a.m. from Rouse Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Sara is survived by a son, Lance Kelly Rouse; four grandchildren, John Kyle Rouse, Paige Rouse Sammons, Tyler Jackson Rouse, and Holly Kaye Rouse; a great-granddaughter, Palyn Elizabeth Sammons; brother, Kenneth Brewer and wife, Mary, along with their sons, Kenneth Brewer Jr, Lane Brewer and Steven Brewer. Sara was preceded in death by her husband, Nelson Kaye Rouse; and sons, John Kyle Rouse and Lyndon Townes Rouse. Sara's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Sara's dear friends and her caregivers, Patty Shepherd, Kennedy Lawson and Maurice Brown. Sara's family will receive friends Monday from 10-11 a.m. at Rouse Funeral Home. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rousefh.com. Arrangements are entrusted to Rouse Funeral Home, La Grange.
