Santa Bongiovi Lived in Elizabeth since coming from Italy in the 1960s Santa Bongiovi (nee Santangelo), 89, of Elizabeth, N.J., passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2016, at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge, N.J., surrounded by her loving family. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the funeral at the Corsentino Home For Funerals, 620 Second Ave., corner of John Street, Elizabeth, N.J., on Saturday, Oct. 15, 2016, at 9 a.m., thence to St. Anthony's R.C. Church, Elizabeth, N.J., where at 10:30 a.m. a Funeral Mass will be offered. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. Entombment will be at Rosedale Cemetery, Linden, N.J. Santa was born in Ribera, Italy, and in 1966 she came to the U.S. and settled in Elizabeth, N.J. She worked as a seamstress for 20 years at Manheim Manufacturing in Elizabeth, N.J., before retiring in 1992. Santa loved to cook, especially homemade pastas and cookies. She enjoyed crocheting and spending time with her family. A loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Santa is survived by her loving children, Maria Catalanotto and her husband, Vincenzo; Stefano Bongiovi and his wife, Concetta, and Mattia Arcieri and her husband, Antonino; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, and her sister, Sister Giuseppina Chiazzese. Santa was predeceased by her beloved husband, Luigi Bongiovi, and brothers, Biagio and Paolo Santangelo.
