Mr. Sam Edward Collins
Mr. Sam Edward Collins Sr., 82, formerly of Chester, died Monday, April 17, 2017, at Pruitt Health Care in Rock Hill. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at Barron Funeral Home and other times at the home of his daughter, Pam McBrayer, 1886 Hardin Strait Road, Chester. The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, April 20, 2017, at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dan Sullivan officiating with the interment following in Evergreen Cemetery, Chester. Born March 31, 1935, in Lando, Mr. Collins was a son of the late Sam N. and Helen Broome Collins and the widower of Barbara Wilson Collins. He attended Lewisville High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Mr. Collins was retired from Cone Mills in Carlisle and a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church. He is survived by three daughters, Cindy Ashworth (Andy) of Edgemoor and Pam McBrayer (Mitch) and Tracey Simpson (Kane), both of Chester; one son, Sam E. Collins Jr. (Christie) of Chester; seven grandchildren, Scott Collins (Amy), Josh Collins (Erica), Jason McBrayer (Meghan), Jordan, Justin, Gracein and Anna; four great-grandchildren, Tyson, Caroline and Stella Collins and Jaxson McBrayer; and four brothers, Steve Collins (Joan) of Richburg, Jimmy Collins and Charles Collins (Kay), both of Chester, and Wayne Collins of Lancaster.
