Richey Ruth Goodwin Richey, of Athens, Ohio and Pompano Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on April 12, 2017, at the age of 95. She was born on March 28, 1922 in Columbus, Ohio. She was a graduate of Upper Arlington High School and The Ohio State University, where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. Ruth was preceded in death by the love of her life Frank B. Richey, and her parents Jennie and Charles Goodwin. She is survived by two children, Lynn (Michael) Mauch of Gahanna, Ohio and Robert (Virginia) Richey of Athens, Ohio; her grandchildren, Jennie (Shawn Moran) Mauch, Jason (Isa) Mauch, Robert (Rebecca) Richey, Sara Richey, Frank (Christina) Richey; and great grandchildren, Brody Moran, Nate and Jackie Mauch, Noah Richey, Corbin and Zeke Richey; two sisters, Dorothy Freed of Lakeland, Fla. and Frances Gustafson of Upper Arlington, Ohio and their families. Ruth was an avid gardener and golfer, enjoying memberships at the Athens Country Club and Pompano Beach Country Club, where she played in the ladies golf leagues. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Athens. She faithfully followed Ohio University football, where her husband Frank had coached, was a longtime member of the Green and White Club, the Bobcat Club, and a wonderful group of coaches's wives. Friends and family will celebrate Ruth's life with a service at JAGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME, Athens on Friday, April 21st at 12:30 p.m. with Rev. Robert Martin officiating. Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Union Cemetery, Columbus. Friends may call Friday 11 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
