Ruth "Tut" (Campbell) Murphy
Ruth Campbell Murphy, affectionately nicknamed "Tut" was born to the late Rev. M.L. Campbell Jr. and Gertrude Madry Campbell, on July 3, 1944. She entered Heaven's gates, surrounded and embraced by her children, on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 after a 14-month battle with Ovarian Cancer. A consummate mother and homemaker, Ruth was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and loved ones. She also enjoyed gardening, traveling, watching movies, managing a small real estate business and spending time with family and friends. She attended the schools of Gadsden County and graduated from Carter-Parramore High School class of 1963. She attended Florida A&M University, where she received her Bachelors of Science Degree and the University of Wisconsin-Madison where she received a Masters' of Science in Continuing and Vocational Education. She was also a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. She worked in Seattle Washington, Waterloo Iowa, and spent most of her professional career with the State of Wisconsin, Department of Health and Human Services. Ruth had an unwavering faith in God. Her greatest legacy is the love she gave to others. She received Christ as her savior at an early age in August 1961, and was a member of Allen Temple C.M.E. Church under Rev. M.L. Campbell Jr. In Madison, Wisconsin, she was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She was joined in Holy Matrimony to Robert Murphy. To this union three children were born. She leaves to cherish her memories one daughter: Renae Murphy and two sons: Robert K. Murphy, and Ryan Murphy. A loving mother: Gertrude Madry Campbell, three bothers: Elder Walter Campbell (Jacqueline), Jerome Campbell (Delma), Rev. Clinton Campbell (Sylvia). Two sisters: Marrion Campbell Franklin and Rev. Barbara Campbell. One Aunt: Helen Stevenson of Waterloo, Iowa and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Memorial Service is Saturday September 23, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Mt.
