In memory of
Ruth Kaashoek passed away on Saturday, April 15, 2017, and enjoyed Easter morning in the presence of her loving Savior. Ruth was known for her servant spirit which expressed itself in her quiet way behind the scenes in so many tangible ways…many hours writing encouraging cards, extended conversations, and numerous photo memories of the entire family. She was a huge fan of the Christ Memorial choir and music and would attend multiple services to hear it all twice. Her nurturing ministry will be deeply missed. She is survived by her loving husband, Garry; children, Gay Kaashoek, Garth and Lynn Kaashoek, Steve and Kerry Barkel, Kurt and Cathy Kaashoek; grandchildren, Jennifer and Brad Prince, Julie and Ian Kobes, John and Ruth Barkel Kevin and Conor Kaashoek; great-grandchildren, Alexis, Elyse, and Laura Prince, Andrew and Lylah Kobes, Allison, Piper, and James Barkel; sisters and brother, Bernice and Jack Dykema, Gary and Judy De Haan, Marge and John Kuyers, and sister-in-law, Leona and Randy Kool. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, April 19, at Langeland Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 E. 16th St. Holland, MI 49423. Memorial services are 10 a.m., Friday, April 21 at Christ Memorial Church, 595 Graasfschap Rd. Holland, MI 49423.
