Ruth Johnson-Kozar, 71, of Derry Township, died Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2017, after a brief illness in Excela Westmoreland Hospital. She was born Dec. 13, 1945, in Latrobe, a daughter of the late Jesse and Mae Jones Stickle. Ruth was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. She loved her home, taking care of her yard and feeding the wildlife that came to visit. She was always ready to shop and travel, as she loved to do both. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, David Johnson; a grandson, Curtis Chappell; a sister, Betty Frederick; and her brother, Philip Stickle. Ruth is survived by her loving husband, Ronald J. Kozar; two sons, William "B.J." Johnson and Daniel Johnson (Janice), all of Derry Township; a stepdaughter, Lisa Mentch (Joshua), of Derry Township; a sister, Ginger Warren (Don), of Latrobe; three grandchildren, Scott Chappell and Jessica and Kristine Johnson; three step-grandchildren, Emma, Cora and Kaci Mentch; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in McCABE FUNERAL HOME, 300 W. Third Ave., Derry. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Latrobe, with the Rev. William A. Schaefer officiating. (Everyone please go directly to the church.)
