Ruth C. Finnigan
Finnigan, Ruth C. SLINGERLANDS Ruth C. Finnigan, 83, entered eternal life on Tuesday, October 18, 2016, at Teresian house after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Ruth Abriel. Ruth resided in Slingerlands for the last 40 years. She was a graduate of Albany High School. She was a secretary for New York Telephone Company for 25 years. Ruth was the vice president and treasurer for Finnigan & Sons before retiring as a secretary for Albany County Mental Health. Ruth was an avid Hunt Horse Rider, riding into her 60's. She loved all animals, especially horses and dogs. The animal kingdom has lost a true friend. She enjoyed long walks, attending horse racing at Saratoga, vacationing at Cape Cod, Maine and the Islands. Ruth loved tending to her flowers and decorating her homes, especially for the holidays. She was a member of St. Matthew's Church in Voorheesville, and a devout Catholic. Ruth was the neighbor and friend of Jim Finnigan's for 61 years and Jim's loving wife for 39 years. She was the mother to Lynn D. Gallant (Paul), James H. Finnigan III, Timothy J. Finnigan (Sarah) and Matthew G. Finnigan (Stephanie); sister of Joan Perry (late Ron), Sally Rook (late Ed) and the late Susan Kulzer; gramma to Amy Gallant, Greg Gallant, Brittany Finnigan, Zachary Gallant and the late Timothy P. Finnigan; great-gramma to Scarlet Rose Turner; several nieces and nephews survive. The family would like to acknowledge with deep gratitude the nursing, care giving and the love that was provided to Ruth by the Teresian House staff and the Carmelite Sisters and her dear friend and care giver Mary. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Ruth's family on Thursday, October 20, from 4 to 7 p.m. in McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen St., Albany. Funeral services, Friday, October 21, at 8:15 a.m. in McVeigh Funeral Home, thence to Blessed Sacrament Church, Albany at 9 a.m. where a funeral Mass will be con-celebrated. Interment will immediately follow the Mass in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Colonie.
