Ruth E. Fiene
Ruth E. Fiene 1922—2016 Ruth E. Fiene, age 94 of Monroe, WI, formerly of Davis, IL, passed away Friday, October 14, 2016 at Azura Memory Care in Monroe, WI. She was born March 14, 1922 at the farm home in Rock Grove Township to Harold and Esther (Myers) Bennehoff. She was baptized by Rev. Paul Wetzler, minister of Rock Grove St. Paul Luthern Church. Ruth graduated in 1939 from Freeport High school and worked at Ford Hopkins drug store and in the Charles Furst home in Freeport. On March 14, 1941 she married Cleo Fiene at the St. Paul Church of Epleyanna, he proceeded her in death in January 1993. She always enjoyed the out of doors and spent many hours working in the garden, berry patches and lawn, also helping her husband doing field work and lending a hand with the farm chores. They retired and moved to Davis, IL in 1977 then enjoyed traveling all fifty states and several European trips; also a 28 day Australian – New Zealand Vacation in 1988. Church attendance was a most important part of her life where she taught intermediate and Bible school classes, also a faithful member of Willing Workers Society, doing mending for nursing homes and stitched on many quilts. She served on school election boards many years and did volunteer work after her husband's death at the Freeport and Monroe hospitals. A faithful 58 year member of the Rock Grove Merrymakers unit of Stephenson County Home Extension. Spending time with the family was treasured as well as attending family reunions and worked on genealogy records for the Bennehoff and Meinert families. Surviving is a son Delbert (Norma) Fiene, Rock City, two grandchildren Brenda (Joey) Mayberry of Goreville; Mark (Shelly) Fiene of Rock City. Four great grandchildren, the love of her life, Austin Cashman, Nolan and Madelyn Mayberry, MaKenzie Fiene, two sisters Cleo Kundert of Monroe, WI and Charlotte Peterson of Freeport, IL, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers George and Melvin Bennehoff, two brother-in-laws Roy Kundert and Robert Peterson and sister-in-laws Ruth Bennehoff and Jeannine Bennehoff. The family would like to thank AZURA Memory Care and Hospice of Monroe for their excellent care of Ruth. A visitation will be held Sunday, October 16th from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home in Dakota, IL. The funeral service will be Monday, October 17th at 11 a.m. at St Paul Church of Epleyanna in Davis, IL. There will be a visitation before the service from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the church. Interment will take place at the St. Paul Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established in her name. Condolences may be shared with her family at www.walkermortuary.com .
