Ruth Christine Favata Spirited grandmother, terrific dancer, retired from Allstate Ruth Christine Favata, 84, passed from this life on Saturday, Oct. 15, 2016, at home in Union, N.J., after a valiant but short struggle with cancer. Visitation and life celebration will be held on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Gray Memorial Funeral Home, 12 Springfield Ave., Cranford, N.J. Born in 1932, Ruth was the daughter of the late Walter and Helen Ansbach of Easton, Pa. Ruth was a beloved sister to 10 siblings, all predeceased. In 1954, Ruth married her childhood sweetheart and the love of her life, Vincent Favata, whom she lost in 2012 after a brief illness. In addition to raising three devoted children, Patricia Favata of Mine Hill, N.J., Rocco Favata of Union, N.J., and Vincent Favata Jr. of Kenilworth, N.J., Ruth was a proud grandmother to Nicholas and Alyssa Favata. Ruth was a former employee of Allstate Insurance until she retired. Ruth was a game show channel devotee, loved playing the slots in Atlantic City and she never missed an episode of Everybody Loves Raymond. She spent hours crocheting and sharing tidbits of wisdom with her family. Ruth danced a mean stroll and played the wax comb like nobody's business. Her signature gift of joy and great spirit, shown through her constant smiling and joking, will never be forgotten. Ruth is survived by her children, grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.
