Russell Louis Thomas
Russell Louis Thomas, age 91, of Erie, passed away peacefully, on Monday, April 10, 2017, at Pleasant Ridge Manor West. He was born on December 26, 1925, in Hopewell, Va., a son of the late Matthew Sr., and Pauline Tharpe Thompson. Louis was a hard worker and very handy. He was in charge of maintenance for the Sara Coyne Campground (previously Beachcomber) on the peninsula for over 50 years. Before Sara Coyne Campground, he was employed as a doorman at the Lawrence Hotel, at Marx Toys, and in maintenance at Edinboro University. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by several siblings: Helda Jones, Henrietta Branch, Matthew Thompson, Jr., Oscar Thompson, Willie Thompson; and his granddaughter Samone Grayson. He is survived by his wife Ann Thomas of South Carolina; children: Barbara Donaldson, Russell Thompson Jr. (Patricia), all of Virginia, Lena Thomas of Erie, and Robert Thomas (Susan) of Mentor, Ohio; a stepchild Mumin Rahmaan; a sister Emily Hicks; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
