Ruby was a lifelong Episcopalian and associate member of the Sisters of the Holy Nativity. Ruby was married to Fr. James R. Bishop, Episcopal Priest, and member of the Society of the Holy Cross, until his death in 1996. Ruby was active in retirement at St. Georges Episcopal Church, York Harbor, and was a volunteer at York Hospital for many years. Ruby was born in Chicago in 1917, and as a young lady became a notable and in-demand fashion model for major retailers along the LOOP, including Marshall Fields. Later in life, Ruby earned the degree of Exemplar of Beta Sigma Phi, a sorority organization of women dedicated to self help and philanthropic endeavors of many kinds, inspired by the depression era needs of fellow women during the time of its founding. A Eucharistic funeral service will be celebrated at St. Georges Episcopal Church, 407 York St., York Harbor, at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, October 27. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Ruby's name to The Building Fund, St. Georges Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 364, York, ME 03909.
