Tolan, Roseann Biwer Passed into eternal life on Saturday, October 15, 2016. Born on February 10, 1930, Roseann was the eldest child of Hieron and Helen Biwer. She is survived by her beloved husband, David and their 3 loving children and families: Joseph, Anne, Nathan and Michael; David, Lori, Alexander (Allison) and Kathleen; Julie, Mark, Anne and Mary Wiesman. Also survived by her youngest brother and sister, John Biwer (Lynn) and Elizabeth Miller (the late David). She was preceded in death by her siblings, Daniel Biwer, Claire Choutka, Robert Biwer and Mary Ellen Biwer. Roseann's early years were spent in Waukesha, Wisconsin and on Pewaukee Lake. She went to boarding school at St. Mary's Academy in Prairie du Chien and received her BA in Education from Mount Mary College in 1952. During her college years, Roseann became interested in politics and joined the Young Republicans and later became Secretary of the National Organization. She taught second grade and spent her summers working in Washington D.C. Roseann was an alternate delegate at the 1956 Republican Convention. In the fall of 1957, Roseann met David Tolan and they were married in February 1958. She was Den Mother for the boys' Cub Scout troops, Brownie and Girl Scout leader and active in her children's schools. Roseann taught religion, sang in her church choir and the Bel Canto Chorus. Always creative and giving, she was a skilled miniaturist and enjoyed many years as a docent for the Milwaukee Art Museum. Roseann spent many summers at Elkhart lake where she was the best Nana her grandchildren could ever have had. The family would like to give special thanks to the amazing team of Angels at Heritage Elm Grove, who loved and cared for Roseann in the final years of her life. A celebration of Roseann's life well lived will be held at the Funeral Home on Monday, October 24 from 4 to 7 PM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 25 at 11 AM at Church of Gesu, Milwaukee (1145 W. Wisconsin Ave.). A reception will follow. Private family graveside services at St. George Cemetery, Elkhart Lake. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts to the Milwaukee Art Museum, Mount Mary College, The David & Roseann Tolan Family Scholarship at Marquette University or the Alzheimer's Association.
