Rose was born on March 19th 1927 in South Bend, Indiana, the third of 14 children born to Perry and Lena Tirotta. She married Louis Ratkay in 1950 who passed away in 2002. Left to cherish her memory are her three loving children, Michael (Linda) Ratkay of Niles, Michigan, Susan (Chuck) Jacobs of Burbank, California and Wanda (Trip Brock) Comer also of Burbank. Six Grandchildren, Rod (Kim) Ratkay, Molly (Mike) Raven, Nick Ratkay, Jasmin Jacobs, Kortney Comer and Kasey (Catlin) Comer. Three Great Grandchildren, Gage (Jae) Ratkay, Taylor Ratkay and Catherine Rose (Catie) Comer. And one Great-Great Grandson, William Ratkay. She created and nurtured five generations through her life and maintained that for two years until her passing, and now leaves behind a legacy of four generations. She is also survived by her siblings, Frank (Virg) Tirotta, Joe (Judy) Tirotta, Paul (Aileen) Tirotta and Sandra Tirotta, all of South Bend, IN. As well as Barbara Johnson of Niles, MI. She was preceded in death by her Brothers Michael and Perry and Sisters Judith, Mary, Theresa, Catherine, Angela and Edith. In her earlier years, she worked very hard in supporting the war efforts, as well as her Family, by working at Ball Band Rubber in Mishawaka, IN making mittens for the service men of our Country during WWII. Later, with the experience she acquired as a seamstress at Ball Band, she began contributing her skills in the family business reupholstering auto interiors. She went on to become the sole owner and operator of The Trim Shop in Niles, MI for 34 years, impressing people far and wide with her unusual, fascinating and creative abilities. Coming from a large Italian family she enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family during the holidays and on summer vacations. In her younger days she enjoyed bowling and playing softball and could have joined the South Bend Blue Sox if her father would have approved of those short skirts. With a lifetime filled with unconditional love, devotion and complete selflessness for her Family, we loved and honored her in life, and will continue to love and honor her throughout the rest of our lives. She sacrificed most of her life, but in her eyes and heart, it was never sacrifice, but rather a driving determination to take care of everyone dearest to her heart, her Family. It is difficult to imagine a world without her in it.
