Rosario 'Roz' Prieto de la Torre April 27, 1955 – Feb. 6, 2017 Resident of Sunnyvale Rosario, 'Roz', Prieto de la Torre passed away on Monday from a sudden heart attack. Roz was a resident of Sunnyvale, CA. Roz was born in Weed, CA and moved to Ashland, OR. Roz graduated from Ashland Senior High in 1973, Salutatorian, and the editor of the school paper. Roz was the recipient of a scholarship to Stanford University where he graduated with a B.A. in Communication in 1977. At Stanford, Roz met the love of his life, Alvina Nishimoto, who he married in 1981. Roz begin his career as a journalist for the Spokesman-Review in Spokane, WA. Roz returned to the Bay Area as an editor for the San Jose Mercury. Five years later, Roz transitioned his career into technical writing, prescient timing, to shift from journalism into high tech for a fascinating 35 year career in Silicon Valley with Taligent (Apple and IBM joint venture), Hewlett-Packard through his most recent role with Google. Roz cherished his friends he made throughout his career. Roz is survived by his wife, Alvina Nishimoto, his son, Nicholas de la Torre, his sisters, Ester Sanchez and Patricia de la Torre Dragovic; his brothers, Victor Aguilera and Jim de la Torre.
