Rosalinda Moitoso
Rosalinda Medeiros Moitoso SEPTEMBER 14, 1926 - OCTOBER 12, 2016 Rosalinda Medeiros Moitoso (aplido Rosalinda Ramadinha) was born on September 14, 1926 to Jose Francisco Medeiros and Maria Emilia (Furtado-Ramadinha) Medeiros in Cedros, Faial.  She passed away on October 12, 2016 at Grace Home in Livingston.  She emigrated to Atwater in August of 1959 and lived there all her life until her final residence of Grace Home. Rosalinda suffered for many years from Alzheimer's. Rosalinda married Tomas Moitoso in June of 1949, theirs was truly a love match.  Like so many on the Island of Faial, in 1959 Rosalinda and Tomas and family emigrated to the United States.  They made this great sacrifice to give their daughters a better life and education than was available in Cedros.  They had two daughters, Maria Analia married to Bob Bertao and Marie Terezinha and her husband John Nolen.  Two grandchildren Tracy married to Ken Barber and Brian Strong married to Stefanie.  Three great granddaughters; Lilia, Isabel and Julia Vega Strong and Godchild, Leontina Laranjo of Atwater.  She has many nieces and nephews in the Azores, Rhode Island, Canada and California.    Rosalinda was the last of her large Ramadinha family.  Her father passed away when she was eighteen months old, leaving her thirty-two year old mother to raise eight children.  It was a hard life for all of them, but they had much joy and laughter and above all love in their tiny home.    Rosalinda was a cheerful person who enjoyed good times.  She loved to go to the Portuguese festas and bullfights and especially visits to the ocean.  They usually took off in their van or dad's old El Camino for their day trips.  Her greatest happiness was being home and watering her flowers and garden.  In later life she looked forward to visits from her children and grandchildren, especially her great granddaughter Isabel, who visited her often at Grace Home.  Mother suffered for many years from Alzheimer's, but as the people at Grace Home will tell you she was always cheerful and wanting to give a hug from everyone. The family would like to thank the entire staff at Grace Home for their love and care of mother.  Thank you also to all the home caregivers including, Maria Carrasco and Julie Sheppe (Moitoso).  Remembrances in Rosalinda's name may be sent to Grace Home 13435 Peach Avenue, Livingston, CA. Visitation will be from 5-8PM with the Rosary being recited on Monday, October 17th at 7:00 pm at Wilson Family Funeral Chapel in Atwater.  Mass and burial services will be on Tuesday, October 18th at 10:00 AM at St. Anthony Catholic Church.  Burial will be at Winton District Cemetery.  Funeral arrangements are by Wilson Family Funeral Chapel of Atwater, California.   www.cvobituaries.com ...
