Rosadele Mary Carroll, 94, of Hillsboro, Ore., formerly of Port Vue, passed away on Tuesday morning, Sept. 27, 2016, at Rosewood Specialty Care Home, Hillsboro, Ore. Rosadele was born on Oct. 18, 1921, in Monessen, the oldest of four children of Cosmo and Adeline (Carcelli) Bonari. She was raised in Monessen and graduated in 1939 from Monessen High School. She attended the former California State Teachers College, receiving in 1943 a bachelor's degree in teaching. She met her future husband, Grove E. Carroll, while at a USO dance. They soon began dating and were married on June 8, 1946, in Monessen. They made their home until 1975 in Port Vue. Both traveled across the U.S. in their RV and lived in Tucson, Ariz., moving in 2007 to Hillsboro to be closer to their daughters. Grove passed away on May 6, 2016, after a marriage that lasted nearly 70 years. Rosadele taught first grade in Liberty. When she was 46, she returned to school to earn a Master of Library Science from the University of Pittsburgh. She then worked to establish libraries at six elementary schools in McKeesport before retiring in 1978. She enjoyed square dancing, traveling and volunteering her library experiences in Monessen and at Wagons West in Arizona. She was a great cook and enjoyed summer the most because she was able to spend time with her children and grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. She is preceded in death by her loving husband; parents; and brothers, Lawrence and George Bonari. She is survived by her children, Diane and Janis Carroll, both of Hillsboro; a sister; LaVerne Galvan, of Monessen; grandchildren, Nathan Labunski and Kate Grasso; and five great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2016, at Belle Vernon Cemetery Chapel. Arrangements are by FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY INC., Belle Vernon (724-929-5300).
