Ronald W. Hayes
Ronald Wesley Hayes passed away January 3, 2017 in York, Maine. Ron was born on January 15, 1935 in Boston to Mary Wardlaw Hayes and Leonard Ralph Hayes. He grew up in Lexington Massachusetts, was a three-sport high school athlete and graduated from Lexington High in 1952. Ron subsequently served in the United States Air Force and was posted to North Africa. After his military service he attended the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston, obtaining his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, then went on to the Tufts University- Museum School program for his Masters in Education. Ron lived with his wife Cynthia in York Harbor Maine for many decades, drawing inspiration from the rocky shoreline for several series of beautiful acrylic paintings. He returned to the Mass College of Art as a teacher, rising over time to the rank of Professor of Graphic Arts. He had many other interests, notably the science of nutrition, and he wrote and lectured on that subject for many years. Ron leaves his son Joshua, daughter in law Dia, and granddaughter Elsa of Valley Glen, California, his daughter Justina of Sanford, Maine, his brother Rick of Georgetown, Massachusetts and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Ralph. Ron chose not to have any ceremony for his passing, but the family will father in his memory.
