Carito, Roland GLENMONT Roland Carito, 41, passed away on April 15, 2017, at home. Roland was born on June 6, 1975, in Mount Kisco, N.Y. to Raymond and Phyllis Carito. He attended the Taconic Hills School, was a 1993 graduate of Berkshire School in Sheffield, Mass., and attended the University of New Hampshire. He married Charlotte McNally on May 22, 2005, in Walpole, N.H. Roland dedicated his life to at-risk youth, touching the lives of many children, and mentoring dozens of staff members. He was the director of operations for the Boys and Girls Club of Ulster County and was a youth basketball coach. He was an avid New York Yankees and Syracuse Basketball fan. He previously served on the board of the Esopus Creek Conservatory and was a past member of the Saugerties Kiwanis Club, the Ulster County Workforce Investment Youth Council, and the Community Development Partnership. He lived in many places, Copake Falls, N.Y., Eugene, Ore, Springfield, Ore., Portland, Ore., Portland, Maine, Denver, Ashuelot, N.H., Brattleboro, Vt., Pittsburg, Saugerties, Dallas, and finally, he settled in Glenmont. He was a passionate husband and father. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Jean; his children, Raymond Robert (11) and Vera Jean (three); his parents, Phyllis and Raymond; his sister, Corey Carito; and his aunts, Regina Cicchetti and Susan Zimmer. He is also survived by his in-law's, Dan and Lee Anne McNally, and their daughter, Emery (three); Sharon and Dave Alderton, and their sons, Drew (seven), Chase (five), and Lyla (11 months); Sean and Shannon McNally, and their daughter, Elvie (three); and Taylor McNally (22); his loyal dogs, Dora and Avalanche; and cat, Verona. He was predeceased by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Stephen and Marsha McNally; brother-in-law, Travis McNally; and dogs Rocky, Bish-Bash and Sammie. Services will take place at the Meyers Funeral Home, 741 Delaware Ave., Delmar. The wake will be on Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. and the funeral will be on Thursday at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the education fund set up for Raymond and Vera Carito.
