KEARNEY - Rodney D. "Rod" Bamrick, 57, of Kearney died of cancer Thursday, Jan. 15, 2009, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Elm Creek Christian Church with the Rev. Dean Pofahl officiating. Burial will be at Overton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington. He was born July 19, 1951, in Lexington to Robert and Clarice (Eby) Bamrick. On April 25, 1970, he married Dianna Nelson in Lexington. She preceded him in death. On Sept. 2, 1995, he married Pat Redlinger in Lexington. They divorced. Survivors include his parents, of Overton; daughter, Niki Altwine and her husband, Eric, of Bertrand; brother, Robert Bamrick and his wife, Nancy, of Overton; sister, Karen Shafer and her husband, Lee, of Overton; grandchildren, Dylan, Allie, Jessica and Bayley; and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was just diagnosed with cancer shortly before Christmas. He grew up at rural Overton, where he attended school and graduated from Overton High School in 1969. He worked for quite a few years at Al's Meat Market in Lexington, Simplot Soil Builders and Monroe Auto in Cozad. He also farmed for his dad near Overton and then bought Beaver Creek Saloon in Elm Creek, which he and Pat owned and operated for 10 years. At the time of his death, he was delivering the Kearney Hub newspaper. He was quite a character. Those who knew him well knew how he loved to tease and play jokes on his friends. He enjoyed bowling, playing cards, especially Texas hold 'em, golfing, going to the casino, fishing and singing karaoke. He so cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren and other family members. He will be so missed. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his grandparents and a son, Patrick. Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation. Online condolences may be directed to reynoldslovefuneralhome.com . ... Show More
