Roberta A. Desjardins
Roberta Ann (Birdie) Desjardins, 76 of Chicopee, MA, passed away on October 17, 2016 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA. She was born in Springfield where she attended the High School of Commerce and retired in 2006 from Berkshire Manufacturing as General Manager. Roberta leaves her loving and devoted husband and sweetheart, Albert J. Desjardins with whom she met at the age of 16 and shared 58 wonderful years of marriage together. She also leaves her children, Denise A. Faircloth and her husband William of Westfield, Debra J. Rhodes and her husband William also of Westfield and James E. Desjardins and his wife Charlene of Belchertown, and her 7 cherished grandchildren, David Faircloth of Salt Lake City, Utah, Nicole Faircloth of Portland, Maine, Kelsey Rhodes Mozzi and her husband Matt of Dalton, MA, Brittany Rhodes of Houston, Texas; and Tessa, James Jr. & Andrew Desjardins all of Belchertown, MA. She was predeceased by her Mother Mary Ann (Phelps) Danenza, her father Nicholas Danenza, her loving mother-in-law Doris Deuso Desjardins, her father-in-law Oscar Desjardins, a loving sister-in-law Georgette Desjardins Blais, a brother-in-law Joseph Specht and a kindred soulmate, nephew, Zachary Blais. She leaves behind a very close family: Edward and Annette Desjardins, Gloria and Ronald LaRiviere, Mary Jean Specht, Joseph Blais, many loving nieces and nephews and innumerable friends who supported her and her family over the past years as well as her constant canine companion, Cookie. She was an exceptionally talented woman who could build or repair anything, as well as master the art of creating intricate and delicate wedding cakes, gifted seamstress. She loved her Koi fish pond, trips to Hawaii with her husband and day trips to Mohegan Sun and Christmas Eve traditions with her family. The family would like to thank Dr. Fay, Theresa & Renee at Baystate Medical Practices of South Hadley, Dana Farber Cancer Institute, D'Amour Center for Cancer Care, Baystate Gastroenterology, Baystate Medical Center, Baystate Visiting Nurses and Caring Solutions. The loving and compassionate care received by all of these organizations and caregivers was exceptional and a tremendous blessing for her and her family. A Celebration of Life for Roberta will be held on Sunday, October 23, 2016 at the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton St. Holyoke, from 2:00 to 5:00pm with a service being held at 4:00pm.
