In memory of
Roberta Sorensen Chase
Roberta Chase Roberta Sorensen Chase, 60, died on March 4, 2017, in Zanzibar, Africa at the end of an African trek and safari. It was her dream and 60th birthday present to visit her beloved Africa once again. The trip was decades in the making. She died doing what she loved, in the land that she loved, and with the man she loved. Robbie was born on January 18, 1957, in Pasadena, California to Marjorie and Robert Sorensen. In 1966 the family relocated to San Luis Obispo. Robbie earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from the University of the Pacific in 1979, and a Master's Degree in Computer Science from Nova Southeastern University in 1993. She taught at Petaluma Junior High School and Santa Rosa Junior College. She was a Director at Wildlife Safari Park in Oregon, and started the Montgomery High School Education Foundation. Her Montgomery friends recall her as smart, stable and always the patient leader. Robbie married Douglas Chase on July 21, 1979. Together they worked hard to build Doug's dental practice, Robbie taking the lead on the administrative and financial aspects. They raised their daughter Andrea and son Ken in Santa Rosa. Robbie enjoyed the outdoors and her many animals, including horses, dogs and cats. Doug and Robbie always took the time to enjoy visits with family and good friends, and travel to many exotic destinations. Robbie's favorite focus was the wildlife of Africa. Robbie and Doug were passionate backpackers, kayakers, and enjoyed road trips in their Sprinter. We will never forget the radiance of Robbie's beautiful smile, the enthusiasm that she had for life, and the boundless devotion and love that she held for all of us. She leaves behind her husband Doug; daughter Andrea; son Ken; father Robert; brother Gregg (Anne); and a circle of family and friends that so dearly miss her. A Celebration of Life service for Robbie will be held from 2:00 to 5:00 pm, April 29, 2017, at the Berger Center in Oakmont, Santa Rosa. In lieu of flowers, we know that Robbie would request that any donations in her remembrance be made to wwf.org or https://secure. worldwildlife.org/donations/ memorialdonation.aspx?sc=AWE1302MT904 Sign her guestbook at sanluisobispo.com/obituaries
