Robert Charles Turner, 67, of Bloomfield, beloved husband for 39 years of Hannah Narine (Grandison) Turner, passed away suddenly on Friday, September 28, 2016, while visiting family in Jamaica. Born in Westmoreland, Jamaica, West Indies on April 10, 1949, son of the late Adrian and Veta (Clarke) Turner, he was raised in Westmoreland and had lived in Montego Bay before moving to Hartford and then to Bloomfield 35 years ago. Robert started his career as a machinist at Stanadyne in Windsor and had worked at Kaman Corporation in Bloomfield, before taking a position at Triumph Engine Control Systems in West Hartford where he had worked until his retirement just two months ago. He attended North United Methodist Church in Hartford with his wife Hannah. Most of all, Robert will be remembered as a family man who enjoyed spending time at home with his wife, children, and grandchildren. Besides his loving wife, he leaves to mourn his passing, two sons, Robert Charles Turner, Jr. and his wife Lisa, and Todd Chance Turner all of Bloomfield; two brothers, Roy Turner and his wife Sharon of Miami, FL, and Colin Turner and his wife Minerva "Clover" of East Orange, NJ; two sisters, Averill Watson of Highgate, St. Mary, Jamaica and Lorna Deers and her husband Howard of Montego Bay, Jamaica; seven grandchildren, Tierra, Jalah, Jalisa, and Robert Turner, III, and Tatiana, Thomas, and Timothy Watkins; two sisters-in-law, Tencil Richards of Hartford and Mable Barnett of St. Ann, Jamaica; three brother-in-law, Frazier Grandison of Florida, Godfrey Grandison and his wife, Lorna of Bloomfield, and Victor Grandison and his wife, Jacqueline of East Hartford; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by a brother, Junior Turner. His family will receive friends on Saturday, October 22, 8-10 a.m., followed by a Homegoing service at 10 a.m., at The Lodge Community Chapel, 130 Deerfield Rd., Windsor. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. A repast will follow at The Lodge. The family has requested that memorial donations be made to North United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 320235, Hartford, CT 06132.
