Lt. Col. Robert Donald "Bob" TRUDELL USAF (Ret.)
TRUDELL, Lt. Col. Robert Donald USAF (Ret.) "Bob" of St. Pete Beach, FL, passed away peacefully at Bay Pines VA Hospice December 29, 2016. Bob was born May 23, 1924 in Burlington, VT. He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Theresa; his daughter, Joanne Peake-McCollough; son, Robert Jr. (Teri); seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Bob was a career military officer with 28 years of military service. He was a pilot in WWII receiving his wings at the age of 19. He flew in the Pacific Theater as the pilot for General Ryder, 9th Corps Commander. After WWII he returned to Burlington, VT, to attend the University of Vermont completing a Bachelor's of Science degree. He was recalled during the Korean Conflict and served as a radar and communications officer until his retirement in 1970. After retirement from the military, Bob had a successful career in real estate sales. Bob will be fondly remembered as a generous and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. A special thank you to the many caregivers and the VA Hospice at Bay Pines. Bob's interment service with military honors will be held at Bay Pines National Cemetery, Friday, January 27, 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bay Pines VA Hospice.
