GASTONIA - Robert Louis Stringfellow, 75, exchanged labor for reward on Jan. 5, 2017, at Brian Center. A native of Gastonia, he was the son of the late Thornton and Amanda Starr Stringfellow. "Bob" as he was more intimately known, was formally educated in the Gaston County School System, including Lincoln Academy. Bob was the successful owner of Bob's Concrete. His professional craft could be seen throughout the greater Gaston and Mecklenburg counties. He was responsible for such projects at the Gaston County Jail, Schiele Museum, Toys R Us, and numerous other major business and housing developments in Gaston County. Reared in the Mount Pisgah Baptist Church, Gastonia, he lated joined and served faithfully at Pleasant Ridge AME Zion Church, Gastonia, and never neglected the "means of grace." In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Mrs. Lottie Thompson Stringfellow; his brother, Otis and sister, Jessie Stringfellow. He is survived by his sister, Ruby Gordon, Gastonia; children, Paula Curry, Mason III, Rev. Luke Curry Sr. (Von), all of Gastonia, Dr. Nathan Curry (Delores) of Durham, along with a host of loving grandchildren, nieces, nephews, employees and friends. Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017, at Costner Funeral Home. Family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1 p.m.
