Settergren, Robert G. Settergren, Robert George, 97. Robert Settergren died Saturday, April 15, 2017 at the American House, Kentwood. "Bob" was born in Dines, Wyoming in 1920 to Hjalmar Linneaus Settergren and Adeline Rosina Puetz and grew up in Denver, Colorado. He lived his adult life in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He was married to Dorothy Patricia Barber, who preceded him in death. A graduate of the University of Colorado, he was a civil and structural engineer at Daverman and Associates, even working for them briefly in Saudi Arabia. Bob had many hobbies, but in his retirement, he was particularly known as a popular line dance teacher. Surviving are his children, Barbara Hampton (Charles), Robert Bruce Settergren (Deborah) of San Diego, CA, and James Settergren (Jennifer); his grandchildren, Jennifer Hampton, Ellen Filgo (Kelly), and Karen Hampton; Reuben Settergren (Christina), Anthony Settergren (Andrea), and Emily Najera (Alex); Courteney Settergren, Claire Settergren, and Lilly Settergren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death besides his wife were his sister, Ruth E. Waefler; daughter, Virginia S. Settergren, and granddaughter Dacia S. Settergren. A memorial service will be held Monday, May 8 at 11:00 AM at Calvin Christian Reformed Church, 700 Ethel St. SE, where he was a charter member, served on council, and was Sunday School Superintendent. Visitation will be held at the church on Monday, prior to the service, from 10:30 to 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a gift to the Grandville Friendship Homes, P.O.
