Salem - It is with deep sadness that the family of Robert Grant Schultz, 55, share that Bobby passed away at his parents' home after a courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2016. He was surrounded with full time care and the love and support of his family and many friends. Bobby was born Nov. 3, 1960, in New London, and lived most of his life in Salem. He leaves behind his wife of 31 years, Joyce Schultz; and their two devoted children, Jason and Janet Schultz of Salem. He is the son of Evelyn and William Schultz of Salem; and is also survived by his sister, Barbara Schultz; and brother, William Schultz II and wife, Debbie. He also leaves behind his sister-in-law, Edwina Callaghan and her husband, George; and his beloved nephews and nieces, Aaron Rekas, Ashley Miller, Shawn, Jaime and Grace Callaghan, Kevin Callaghan and fiancé, Meggan Shafer, and William Schultz and Margaret Schultz. He also leaves behind lifelong best friend, John Muscarella. Bobby attended Norwich Free Academy, was a junior firefighter at the Gardner Lake Fire Company, and worked as a union iron worker for Local 15. He was an avid hunter, trapper and fisherman. Bobby was a member of the Colchester Fish and Game Club, the Maine Trappers Association and the North American Versatile Hunting Dog Association. He shared his love and knowledge of the outdoors with his wife and children. He loved his German Short Haired Pointers and his hunting and fishing trips to Maine and Montana. Throughout his life, he loved having friends and family in his home which was always filled with laughter, good food, and great memories. He will be sadly missed. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016, at St. Joseph Cemetery in Colchester; reception to follow at Colchester Fish and Game Club on Old Amston Road in Colchester. The Belmont Funeral Home has been entrusted with Bobby's care.
