Robert Johnston Miller Sr.
Taylorsville Miller, Robert Johnston Sr., 84, of Taylorsville, passed away on Sunday, the 16th day of October, 2016. "Bob" was retired from the Johnston and Bob Miller Insurance Agency and the Johnston and Bob Miller Real Estate Agency, retiring after a career spanning thirty-two years. He was also a co-owner and operator of the Van Dyke Farm in Taylorsville. Bob was a proud Air Force veteran and served in the Korean War. A member of the First Baptist Church of Taylorsville, he was a dedicated deacon, serving for over 60 years. He was a Past Master of Taylorsville Masonic Lodge and a member of the Lexington Scottish Rite, the York Rite and Kosair Shrine. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, his survivors include his wife of 63 years, Katherine "Kitty" Van Dyke Miller; his sons, Robert Johnston Miller, Jr., and his wife, Nicole, and Ronald L. Miller and his wife, Judy; his daughter, S. Dianne Vowels and her husband, Phillip "Pete"; his grandchildren, Lauren Miller, Jordan Miller, David Miller, Erica Boguskie, and her husband, Adam, Nicholas Vowels and his wife, Jaimie, and Lindsey Vowels; his great-grandson, Colton; his sister Marilyn F. Rowlett and her husband, Bill, and his sister-in-law, Billie Sue Nutter. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Johnston Miller and Mary Garnett Miller, and his sister, Bettye J. Nichols. He was also preceded in death by his two brothers-in-law, James G. "Nick" Nichols, and James C. Nutter. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, the 19th day of October, 2016 at the First Baptist Church of Taylorsville, 115 West Main Street, Taylorsville, Kentucky 40071. Interment will be in Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, 18 October 2016 at the Hall-Taylor Funeral Home of Taylorsville, with Masonic rites at 7 p.m. The Miller family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the care provided and compassion shown by the Hosparus professionals.
